In this performance, the artist stacks a pile of 60 chairs on top of one single chair at the bottom. During about 40 minutes the construction grows into an unstable tower that is about to fall down at any moment. With every new chair the pressure on the bottom chair increases while producing allarming cracking noises. If this strange tree hasn’t crashed down by a mistake of the artist it will anyway when the base chair breaks when the 59th chair is stacked and the critical mass is reached. A true exercise in equilibrium and cold bloodedness, yet tragic and predictable like Sysiphus’ struggle.
